— Appearing in court can be an unsettling experience for anyone, let alone a child who’s struggling to get to grips with going to trial. So when the UK’s leading children’s charity asked us to create a booklet about the court process, we quickly set about distilling the information into comforting visual ideas that children could identify with. We collaborated with an illustrator whose young-at-heart style brought our ideas to life with simple and friendly visuals. Accessibility and readability were key factors to typography decisions, so we used a font originally drawn for primary school signage, developed with dyslexic children in mind. All of this resulted in an engaging, friendly tool, to help children through what can be a difficult and unsettling process.
